In 1999, Freightliner, owned by DaimlerChrysler, purchased the Thomas Built Bus manufacturer. Well known for the innovative technical and safety features it has brought to the transportation industry, Freightliner's leadership brought instant benefits to the school bus industry through the introduction of anti-lock brakes and a design of superior forward visibility.
Following our manufacturer's lead, we at Warner Industries saw similar advantages we could bring to the Saskatchewan bus transportation industry through our acquisition of the Thomas Bus Centre here in Regina on October 15, 1999. Both Freightliner Regina and the Thomas Bus Centre are known for long-standing commitment to quality Customer service.
Before our merger, Thomas Bus Centre serviced all of Saskatchewan from its Regina branch for 20 years, while Freightliner had operated in Regina for 19 years. Our provincial Freightliner affiliates (with dealerships in Swift Current, Saskatoon, and Yorkton) join us in providing customer support throughout the province.
